What does the future hold for Juve Part 1 (goalkeepers and defenders)

With the Juve team getting on a bit with players like Andrea Pirlo, Andrea Barzagli, Gianluigi Buffon and more over thirty, Juve need to look to the future and give some of the younger players a chance. This is part 1 where I will be talking about the young Goalkeepers and Defenders.

Nicola Leali

This young keeper as been given the big title of "The next Buffon" and although many people would feel pressured by this he obviously does not but instead shows a lot of confidence in his game. The player is currently on loan at Serie B club Spezia and will no doubt be called up for the 1st team soon as a back up for Gianluigi Buffon. At 6' 2" he is a tall player for the age of only 20 and has already showcased some brilliant goalkeeping skills such as great positioning, unbelievable vision and incredible cat like reflexes.

But as every young players has ,he has his weaknesses. He isn't that great in the air and his technique could be improved a little. He also aims to catch every shot that is hit at him leading to him having to follow up the rebound and in this case he should take some tips from Buffon himself who is renowned to palming the ball round the post rather than aiming to catch it.

I think that without a doubt Leali will be a first team player within the next few years and hopefully he can live up to his potential.

Alberto Masi

Masi is currently in a co-ownership with Serie B side Ternana Calcio but hopefully within the next few years he will be 100 % Juventini. The young 20 year old really is one for the future and also holds the name of "The Next Nesta" and to be fair he is the sort of player that was born to defend. This guy may lack experience at the top level but boy has he got talent.

In July last year he made his first appearance for the Bianconeri in a friendly against Milan. The young 6' 2" defender surprised everybody with his power, vision and pace. You would have been forgiven if you thought he was already a first team player for Juve because the maturity shown by his was unbelievable.

There is no doubt that this guy will be a first team player sooner rather than later and I can't wait to watch him progress hopefully to the level of Nesta.

Join us again soon where we will be talking about the future of Juventus when it comes to the midfield and attack.
